Soma U

I’m Soma U, a cybersecurity professional with experience in security operations, detection engineering, incident response and enterprise network security. I use this site to explain practical investigations and lab work, including the evidence, limits and lessons learned.

I’m Soma U. I have more than seven years of cybersecurity experience across SOC operations, detection engineering, incident response and enterprise network security. I currently work as an SOC Analyst L2 and Security Engineer in detection engineering.

I hold an MSc in Cybersecurity from Edge Hill University and the CompTIA CySA+ certification. My MSc research focused on image-based Android malware detection using deep learning.

I’m extending my work across security data analysis, Elastic investigations, malware analysis, AI and machine learning.

How I document work

For each project, I explain:

  • The question I wanted to answer.
  • The tools and data I used.
  • The steps I took and why.
  • The evidence, results and limitations.
  • What remains uncertain and what I would improve.

Lab exercises use synthetic or lab-generated data where stated. I do not publish employer, client or patient information.
